Wisdom teeth

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to emerge in the back of the mouth, usually between the ages of 17 and 25 ¹². They can cause pain, swelling, and other dental problems if they don’t have enough room to grow properly ¹. Impacted wisdom teeth, which are teeth that don’t have enough space to emerge or develop normally, can result in pain, damage to other teeth, and other dental problems ¹. In some cases, impacted wisdom teeth may cause no apparent or immediate problems, but because they’re hard to clean, they may be more vulnerable to tooth decay and gum disease than other teeth are ¹. If you experience symptoms in the area behind your last molar that may be associated with an impacted wisdom tooth, you should see your dentist.
